Campaigners release new figures demonstrating further increase in dental patients at risk

01 August 2012

Campaigners calling for better protection for UK dental patients have released new figures today demonstrating an increase in the numbers at risk across the country.

Bridge The Gap campaign head, Chris Dean, said; “We’ve analysed the latest data from the General Dental Council’s determinations and can report that 211,750 patients are now potentially at risk across the UK.

He continued: “It’s a worsening picture, and further demonstrates that the GDC is failing in its primary function of protecting patients.”

Bridge The Gap has been launched to close a loophole which currently allows UK dentists to operate without insurance.
